Welcome to Link 2 Lee's Summit.
Nick Parker’s love affair with the Lee’s Summit community began in the 1990s covering the community as a sports editor, news designer and managing editor for the local newspaper. Since that time, he has honed his skills as an editor, publisher and corporate media/marketing executive.
For the first 15 years of his career, Mr. Parker was immersed in the media industry serving community papers throughout the Midwest and the United States. While in the newspaper industry, he focused his efforts on design and engagement with both readership and the local business community in which the publications served. His media career covered stints as a reporter, editor, publisher, and corporate director of a specialty publications and marketing division for GateHouse Media. His reporting and design work has received numerous national and state-wide awards from the Suburban Newspapers of America, Associated Press, the Missouri Press Association, and the Kansas Press Association.
For Mr. Parker, Link 2 Lee’s Summit began as a way for him to return to his roots telling stories from a community he once served. Initially, Link 2 Lee’s Summit focused solely on economic development and the local business community. As the publication entered its second year, the editorial focus expanded to include broader coverage, including news and features from throughout the community. A digital publication, Link 2 Lee’s Summit reaches the community through a web site, weekly newsletters, podcasts and a mobile application featuring an all-inclusive and interactive business directory.
Prior to founding Link 2 Lee’s Summit, Mr. Parker served as head of the marketing department at Newmark Grubb Zimmer, one of the most successful commercial real estate firms in the Midwest. Additionally, he was a leader on the firm’s public sector consulting team, managing public engagement and participation doing economic development analysis and planning assignments for communities throughout the Midwest. Much of his efforts focused on working with leadership to discover the community’s identity then develop a strategy and materials to encourage business retention and expansion efforts. Assignments included managing and hosting public charrettes as well as interviews with key stakeholders and community influencers. Results were then combined with statistical research to produce the final reports and plans for the community.
An active industry and community leader, Mr. Parker lives in Lee’s Summit, Missouri and is a member of the Downtown Lee’s Summit Main Street’s Economic Enhancementand Organization committees. He also serves on committees for several of the organization’s events and fundraising activities. Additionally, Mr. Parker was appointed by Mayor Randy Rhoads to serve on the Lee’s Summit Arts Council.
