Driving business in Lee's Summit. Doing business in Lee's Summit.
These two simple statements are the driving focus behind this new media site. Link 2 Lee's Summit is a news gathering and producing resource with the sole mission of serving the community of Lee's Summit, Missouri as a voice for doing business in this vibrant suburb of Kansas City. Our goal is to discuss business and economic development activity and opportunity in Lee's Summit as well as provide a robust and easy-to-use resource for those wishing to keep their business and shopping local.
It wasn't too long ago someone informed me there were more than 90 bank locations within the city of Lee's Summit. Sure, that includes ATMs and branches, but 90-plus banks? Are we that big? Is there that much activity in our quaint little suburb of Kansas City?
The clear answer is yes. While the vibrant downtown district, high-quality schools, and top-tier parks help this community keep its small-town appeal the simple truth is Lee's Summit continues to grow as a business and economic development power in both the state and metropolitan area. Despite all the accolades our city, its businesses, and its schools have received in the past, we can probably all agree we want more. The next census is expected to show our population surpassing the 100,000 mark and our business community is poised to serve them and more. With that in mind, welcome to Link 2 Lee's Summit.
Here's a little of what to expect in upcoming posts:
- Insight and perspectives from City Council candidates on the local economic development arena
- Monthly focus areas — In March we'll take a closer look at the historic downtown district
- Introductions to and perspectives from local business owners, leaders and community champions
- Links to additional news sources covering our economic development community
- A central location serving as a voice to drive business and development in this community
