R-7 School District to host Transition Fair to help families with special needs children prepare young adults for life after high school

The Lee’s Summit R-7 School District is hosting a Transition Fair from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 9, at the Stansberry Leadership Center, 301 NE Tudor Road.

The event is designed to help families with special needs children prepare for their children’s transition from school to the world of a young adult.

Representatives from approximately 25 agencies will be at the event to provide information and resources to families attending the fair. Families attending the Transition Fair will also learn about how their child can receive school credit for working during high school, guardianship issues, vocational training, determining capabilities, additional support services, college special services and where to turn for additional assistance.
