SCA held its annual spelling bee on Friday, October 27th and three students emerged as the crème de la crème among spellers.

Eighth grade student Anthony Mishriky (1st place winner), eighth grade student Jacob Martinez (2nd place winner), and fifth grade student Abigail Shanahan (3rd place winner) were the top three winners. These students will advance to the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) district competition on January 16th at Maranatha Christian Academy in Shawnee, KS.

A total of 42 students in grades 2nd through 8th participated in the spelling bee, 18 of whom have also qualified for districts. Those continuing to districts include third grade students Tristan Totero, Nathan Schueller, Jackson Shrum; fourth grade students Colton Kennemore, Jett Nickell, Isaac Rieger; fifth grade students Brynne McFarland, Michael Ward, Abigail Shanahan; sixth grade students Isaac Truesdale, Alyssa Martinez, Elise Welch; seventh grade students Gavin Lage, Olivia Truesdale, Andrew Mishriky; and eighth grade students Mark Beumer, Jacob Martinez, and Anthony Mishriky. "I am so proud that our students have made it a priority to excel in academics and experience educational success,” said Elementary Vice Principal Mrs. Charissa Sanders.
