The Summit Christian Academy (SCA) Theatre Department will present the timeless musical, “The Sound of Music” on the stage of SCA November 9-11.

from Summit Christian Academy

“The Sound of Music” is a heartwarming story based on the real life story of the Von Trapp Family singers, one of the world's best-known concert groups in the era immediately preceding World War II.

The school first performed the show in 2006 and it was the first musical that SCA Theatre Director Emily Stam ever produced.

“It was my first collaboration with our brilliant vocal music director, Mrs. Trissa Lucht,” shared Stam. “Since then, the music and theatre departments have grown exponentially, so it's exciting for us to jump back into “The Sound of Music” and tell the story once again.

“It’s nostalgic on so many levels,” continued Stam. “The students who played the Von Trapp children and nuns in that production became some of my closest friends, and now my creative partnership (and friendship) with Mrs. Trissa Lucht is something I greatly treasure. And it all started ‘at the very beginning -- a very good place to start’. Now there is a new generation of talented cast and crew members on stage and backstage; I hope they are building friendships that last just as long."

“The Sound of Music” will open at 7 p.m. on November 9 , and will perform at 7 p.m. on November 11 and 10 with an additional matinee at 2 p.m. on November 11. The performances will take place in the SCA Elementary Commons at 1450 SW Jefferson, Lee’s Summit, MO.
