Legacy Blast fireworks display & extravaganza set for July 3

Legacy Blast fireworks display & extravaganza set for July 3

The annual Legacy Blast fireworks display is set for Monday, July 3 at Legacy Park.

Food vendors, local entertainers and inflatables will be on site at the Baseball, Soccer, Softball, and Football venues before the fireworks show.  Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs. The park will open at 6 p.m. via the south entrance of Legacy Park and close at 9:30 p.m. Parking is available in the Baseball, Football, Softball, and Soccer Venue Lots located off of Legacy Park Drive (between Colbern & Langsford, E of 291, W of 7 Hwy).

Jodi Bell, manager of Legacy Park Community Center said presenting the fireworks show prior to July 4 has allowed for more residents to attend and enjoy the display.

“It was exciting to see the open parking lots in Legacy Park full as well as the parking lots at Richardson Elementary and St. Margaret’s Catholic Church," she said. "Again this year, the football venue will be open to accommodate the additional spectators,” says Bell.

In addition to the larger turnout, the personnel needs from the Police and Fire Departments were taken into consideration.

“Moving Legacy Blast to July 3rd reduces the personnel demands on the holiday and allows for full police support on July 4th throughout our community,” says Bell. Between Police, Fire, and Park personnel, the City saved approximately $7,450 on overtime and holiday pay last year alone.
