Summit Christian Academy (SCA) students recently organized and led a back-pack drive to assist a Christian School in the Houston area who is ministering to neighboring families that were affected by Hurricane Harvey.

Moved with compassion for families who lost nearly everything, fifth grade students Renee Chapman and Elisabeth White worked with SCA Elementary Vice-Principal Charissa Sanders to organize the effort.  Mrs. Sanders was able to connect with an administrator from Heritage Christian School in Pearland, Texas, who was organizing a drive to collect child related items.  Heritage shared that it would be a blessing to have backpacks to put the items in when they distributed them to families in nearby neighborhoods who were virtually starting all over.

"Renee and Elisabeth made flyers and did all of advertising for the drive,” Mrs. Sanders shared.  “They announced it in our daily announcements and even helped count and pack them after the drive was complete. This was all their vision and it was such a blessing to see these young ladies with such a heart to help."

The students were able to collect 288 backpacks to send to Heritage Christian School.
