Kindergarteners at Highland Park Elementary recently worked together to spread kindness to those who serve others as part of the school's annual Day of Service.
from LS R-7 Schools
To begin the day, kindergarteners heard from Barbara Dickerson, a therapist with Empathia, the Lee’s Summit R-7 School District’s Employee Assistance Program. Ms. Dickerson shared what therapists do for children and their families. Students then created coasters featuring words encouragement that are being given to Empathia counselors as a thank you for their work with district staff and families.
The students’ service day ended with a return visit from Tim McHenry and his comfort dog, Cheyenne, both with MO-KAN Pet Partners.
