Following the upcoming May 24 Fourth Friday Art Walk in downtown Lee’s Summit, Got Art Gallery and Summit Art plan to temporarily close Got Art Gallery to renovate and improve the popular downtown Lee's Summit space.
The Summit Art Board of Directors has announced the gallery will re-open for the June 28 Fourth Friday event as Got Art Gallery on Third to introduce new art exhibits, educational classes and artwork for sale to the general public.
Gallery on Third (GOT), 18 SW Third St., Lee’s Summit, opened in 2010 as a vision of building owners Bob and Linda Netterville and the Summit Art group.
“All of us at Summit Art couldn't be more thrilled to share with the public our enthusiasm for all the wonderful changes happening soon at Got Art Gallery on Third,” said Teddy Jackson, chair of the Summit Art Board of Directors.
The gallery is owned and operated by Summit Art, a local, 501(c)3 non-profit, volunteer organization dedicated to promoting visual arts through mentoring, skill advancement and exhibition opportunities, by providing workshops and events for all ages. The renovated gallery will not only have an invigorated look, but will focus on being the premier source for quality original art in Lee’s Summit. Got Art Gallery on Third will be providing educational opportunities for artist development through classes and workshops.
Got Art Gallery on Third is now under new management. During a recent transition in management, the gallery temporarily lost much of its electronic means of communicating with its customers and those seeking gallery information. Most of these issues have been resolved, and Summit Art is working diligently to resolve this.
As Got Art transitions into a fine arts-focused gallery, new displays, educational opportunities and physical improvements will be made to the building, including work done to the historic brick, the flooring and overall aesthetics.
