KC Pet Project to benefit from ‘Art for the Paws’ event

Downtown Lee’s Summit’s Fourth Friday fest June 28 to focus on 4-legged friends

Furry friends will be the featured event at one downtown Lee's Summit Fourth Friday spot June 28.

Art for the Paws will be held at Budget Blinds of Lee’s Summit, 239 SE Main St., and will benefit the four-legged friends in need at KC Pet Project.

Visitors to the Fourth Friday event will get to meet pet artist Ashley Corbello, who will be on hand performing a live painting during the event. Olivia Cipolla Jewelry will also be donating a portion of the proceeds to KC Pet Project.

“We’re a pet-friendly business and we love to support local nonprofits, so combining the two made perfect sense for us,” Budget Blinds owner Debbie Stoddard said. “KC Pet Project is an amazing organization and we are excited to help them not only with food, supplies and monetary donations, but to also raise awareness of what they do for our animals around Kansas City.”

Budget Blinds is asking Fourth Friday participants to donate canned dog/puppy food, pate-style kitten/cat food, puppy training pads, unscented wipes, unscented cat litter, blankets and towels, 55-gallon trash bags, hand sanitizer, paper towels, dog treats and rope toys among other items.

For a full list of items, please see the Facebook event page.

Along with pets, portraits and puppies, Art for the Paws will also feature craft cocktails courtesy of The W, a speakeasy-style bar located in downtown Lee's Summit. Drinks from The W are offered with a donation to KC Pet Project.
