Live Lee’s Summit Town Hall event features open conversation
with R-7 School District

In our continuing efforts to provide public conversations and opportunities for residents to hear directly from local officials, Link 2 Lee’s Summit has planned another live event for it’s weekly Lee’s Summit Town Hall podcast. The next event, slated for 6:30 p.m. on Monday, February 26 at the Missouri Innovation Campus, will feature a conversation with the Lee’s Summit R-7 School District.

Well this could be systematic. Hydromatic. Ultramatic. Why it could be Greased Lightning!... No. It's just your weekly community conversation with Lee's Summit Town Hall hosts Jason Norbury and Nick Parker. And if you didn't already guess, this week we're talking about the movie, Grease. Why, you ask, because Downtown Lee's Summit Main Street is kicking off its inaugural summer outdoor movie series with a showing of this classic American musical. Ashley Nowell and Julie Cook join Jason and Nick to chat about the movie, which shows at 9 p.m. Thursday at the City Hall Plaza. Nick tests the guests' knowledge with some Grease trivia questions as they talk about the movie series and other events happening in Lee's Summit.

A result of good process, Charter amendments should be approved

The discussion on the Charter amendments has focused on the mechanics of the changes, and how they might impact Lee’s Summit going forward. But are the changes good or bad for us? While I lack a strong opinion on some of the more “controversial” changes, the process used to determine the suggested changes was open, well-vetted and done in good faith by a broad group of dedicated volunteers from all over Lee’s Summit. That process should be respected, and the amendments approved.

Every year, I take some time out and attempt to apply my legal training to reviewing and translating the various ballot issues, and then post my opinions on social media, with (sometimes lengthy) analysis of what each issue says... As a general rule, I find ballot initiatives an inefficient and ineffective way to govern a state, and much of my criticism will be from that angle.
