Council to decide tonight whether to add renewal of Capital Improvement Tax to April ballot

As the City of Lee's Summit looks to continued growth and development, City staff is proposing the Lee's Summit City Council put a renewal of a Community Improvement tax before voters in April. If approved, the renewed tax would last 15 years and is estimated to provide more than $100 million in funding for road projects, transportation safety and capacity related issues and stormwater solutions.

LS R-7 names new superintendent of schools

Dr. Dennis L. Carpenter, currently Hickman Mills School District superintendent, will serve as the Lee’s Summit R-7 School District’s 2017-18 superintendent, according to a Jan. 9 announcement by the Board of Education. Board members and Dr. Carpenter are finalizing the new superintendent’s contract and expect to approve it by the Jan. 19 Board of Education meeting.
