As we prepare for this week's tradition of Thanksgiving, and the holiday season that follows, it is customary to also think of those in need. But what does need look like in our community? Where are the gaps and what resources are there for people who need some help filling them. And if we feel a calling to help, how do we do that and where do we go?
Matt Sanning, executive director of Lee's Summit Social Services, called Lee's Summit Town Hall hosts Nick Parker and Jason Norbury last month to pitch this conversation. Not as a way to promote his particular not-for-profit, or even as a way to call for donations (although he will always gladly accept), but more as a way to paint a picture of the needs in our community and as well as let people know of the many resources available in Lee's Summit.
