New year, new season, some of the same — but necessary — community conversations

Welcome to the Season 2 premiere of Lee's Summit Town Hall! We're still a little more than two months shy of celebrating our 1 year anniversary, but hosts Nick Parker and Jason Norbury decided to go ahead and celebrate the new year by calling this the start of our show's second season. This week, Nick and Jason take a look into the continuing City Council dialogue on proposed changes to the City's compensation policy as well as continue their call for more candidates in the upcoming municipal election. As of the time of recording only three of the 7 municipal races will be competitive. Candidate filing ends Jan. 16.

Also joining the show is Pastor Dale Beasley, chair of the City's Human Relations Commission. Beasley offered a preview of the community MLK celebration (5:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15 at The Pavilion at John Knox Village), as well as a peak into the commission and its role in the community.

Lee's Summit Town Hall is a weekly podcast conversation, produced by Link 2 Lee's Summit, highlighting local issues and people in Lee's Summit, Missouri.
